Cole Waterhouse is pleased to see Trafford Wharf, one of Greater Manchester’s key mixed-use developments, shortlisted for the UK Planning Awards in the mixed-use category.
Located along the waterfront, Trafford Wharf has been designed as a well-balanced, integrated neighbourhood. The scheme brings forward 382 Build to Rent homes across two residential towers, supported by a range of internal and external amenity spaces that aim to enhance everyday living for residents.
Alongside this, the development includes purpose-built student accommodation with associated academic space, contributing to a diverse and active environment. These uses are connected through a network of public realm, including landscaped courtyards and rooftop gardens, helping to create a cohesive and accessible place.
Now in their 13th year, the UK Planning Awards recognise projects that successfully navigate the planning process to deliver meaningful outcomes. Being shortlisted reflects the strength of the vision for Trafford Wharf and its role within one of Greater Manchester’s ongoing regeneration areas.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank the wider project team whose collaboration and expertise have been instrumental in reaching this stage. This includes our design, planning, and consultant teams, whose collective efforts have helped shape and deliver the scheme. This includes Chapman Taylor, Civic MEP, XO Square, RBC, TSA, Orion, Jameson Acousitcs, Re-From, Safer Sphere, RLB, Proximity, and PBA.
The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, 4 June 2026 at IET London: Savoy Place.
Trafford Wharf represents a considered approach to waterside development, bringing together homes and community-focused spaces in a growing part of the city.
