Health & Safety Policy

At Cole Waterhouse, we believe in providing a healthy and safe environment for our employees, contractors, end users, those we work with and visitors to our projects. It’s also one of the ways we create a better working environment and is essential to our continued success and growth.

We acknowledge and accept our duties under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, for securing the health, safety and welfare of those working in areas over which we have control and of the public and all others affected by our activities. We encourage the consideration of all safety matters both in and outside of Cole Waterhouse.

We are committed to:

  • Ensuring that health and safety is our highest priority across the business.
  • Preventing work-related injuries and ill-health.
  • Providing safe and healthy places of work.
  • Identifying significant hazards, and managing their associated risks.
  • Providing training to our energetic and talented employees.
  • Creating sustainable buildings that promote health, safety, environmental and social benefits.
  • Encouraging good mental health and wellbeing for our employees.

We achieve this through:

Our Employees

  • Providing clear information, instructions and training to make sure our employees are competent to carry out their duties.
  • Consulting with our employees on health, safety and wellbeing and involving them in discussions about the risks and hazards connected to their duties.
  • Ensuring that employees have suitable PPE when working away from our offices.
  • Taking steps to enhance our employee’s wellbeing.

Our Projects

  • Speaking to local communities and stakeholders from the outset, to ensure we are delivering the highest quality in design, construction and maintenance throughout our schemes from a health and safety perspective.
  • Working with independent external consultants ensuring we comply with statutory requirements including the 2015 CDM Regulations.
  • Working with contractors who lead industry best practice and who demonstrate adherence to our health and safety requirements.

Our Board

  • Allocating duties for the responsibilities of health and safety and ensuring that these are understood, fulfilled and monitored.
  • Providing sufficient funds and resources for health, safety and welfare across all areas of the business.
  • Ensuring that any accidents or incidents are reported at Board level and fully investigated to understand causes and ensure lessons are learned and corrective actions taken.

All employees should acknowledge their own individual duties and responsibilities to take reasonable care to prevent injuries to themselves, fellow employees and members of the public.

At Cole Waterhouse we are committed to ensuring that health and safety is integral to the way we do business. We all have a part to play in the promotion of a positive health and safety culture and ensuring that it is our highest priority in everything that we do.

This Policy has been approved and authorised by the Board and will be reviewed every 12 months.
